Abstract

How can youth be involved as a partner in culture and game-making? This workshop session explores the opportunities and possibilities for the youth in culture, utilizing game-making as a participatory cultural event and practice, while contributing to our cultural heritage and values.

Speaker biographies

Em Hansen (De/Dem | They/Them) is a Research Assistant at Aarhus University and works with diversity and inclusion within EPIC-WE. They hold a master's in Aesthetics & Culture and have specialized in the intersection between queer theory, inclusion and diversity, and the creative videogame industry. They have first hand experience participating in EPIC-WE Cultural Game Jams and have worked as part of the project in facilitating Cultural Game Jams as part of the Aarhus Hub and is a sitting member of the EPIC-WE Youth Advisory Board.

Grace Daniel is an independent digital and change management analyst, specialising in the intersection of finance, gaming, and anti-money laundering (AML). With a Master's degree in Business and Law, Grace has a multidisciplinary background, focusing on inclusion and diversity, design thinking for change management, gaming, contemporary media, and business compliance. Currently running their own business, Grace boasts of her first-hand experience from participating in EPIC-WE Cultural Game Jams, and facilitating these events as part of the Netherlands hub. As a sitting member of the EPIC-WE Youth Advisory Board, she continues to contribute valuable insights and expertise to the community.
