Welcome to Viral Spiral, the board game where you, as an influencer, surf through a whirlwind of real and fake news! Your feed is overflowing with posts, but not everything can be trusted. It’s up to you to separate the facts from the fakes: Real news?

Share it proudly with your followers. Fake news? Report it… or casually swipe it away. The better your choices, the faster you gain extra followers. Every correct move pushes you further upward, until you reach unprecedented heights. Make the right call, keep your feed clean, climb to the top, and beat the rest. GO VIRAL!

The game is inspired by a visit to The Mediamuseum in Hilversum. The students say: "We were inspired by a game focused on media manipulation and fake news and how this influences us. Seeing how media has been used as a tool for propaganda made us think about the power of news in shaping societies and the potential dangers of misinformation. This sparked the idea for Viral Spiral."

The game aligns with the EU values of democracy, freedom of expression, and access to reliable information. This game serves as a tool for educating players on how misinformation spreads and the consequences of sharing it.

The game was originally created by Team 6, four young people who took part in the third Cultural Game Jam in Hilversum and later matured in collaboration with DROPSTUFF MEDIA. DROPSTUFF MEDIA is based in Hilversum, Netherlands and is a pioneer in media design and creates immersive and interactive public experiences.
