Grind the World

Grind disturbing items or refuse. Reflect on mindless gameplay and ethical decisions with unsettling choices.

In "Grind the World", players are asked to "grind" increasingly disturbing items, from household objects to a puppy or a baby. The player has the freedom to refuse, making them reflect on mindless gaming behaviour. The game explores ethical decisions in gameplay, provoking thought about the consequences of our actions.

Game through culture

The game incorporates freedom by not forcing players to grind objects, allowing them to reflect on how much "grinding" is worth continuing. Inspired by the artwork "Grinding of Onions," the mechanics are similar but with a moral twist, challenging players' decisions. Feedback highlighted the importance of social norms in the artwork's message, suggesting the possibility of including different players to represent these norms, adding a deeper layer to the game's ethical reflection.

Game for culture

The game concept presents players with items and a grater, allowing them the freedom to either grind the items or refuse. Initially, the items are common groceries like an onion or banana, but later progress to more disturbing objects like a puppy or baby. This challenges players to reflect on their actions, questioning if mindlessly "grinding" is justifiable in pursuit of winning. The game critiques the desensitization often seen in young players of violent video games.
