Us & Them

Do you trust your neighbour?

Survive the night by helping the main character complete chores and meet his basic needs.

Game as culture

Like the installation, our game explores the neighbor and our relationship with them. However, we’ve turned its oddity into an eerie, unsettling atmosphere. The player must complete tasks to keep the main character sane while spying on the neighbor. As the perceived threat rises, paranoia distorts reality. Through horror, we highlight the discomfort of villainizing or "othering" the neighbor.

Game through culture

Our game is inspired by two installations exhibited at ARoS in Aarhus. The aesthetics draw from James Turrell’s "Milkrun III", while the core concept is influenced by Pipilotti Rist’s "Daggrys-timer i naboens hus" (Dawn Hours in the Neighbour’s House). This immersive piece invites us into the neighbor’s world, engaging our senses, especially hearing.

Game for culture

We wanted to challenge our instinct to distrust those we don’t immediately relate to. This distance can grow into vilification, making us forget a fundamental human trait: empathy. How does our distorted perception affect the dignity of others?
